September is here and the summer is unofficially over.
Summer is my favorite season with fall in a very close second, so this time of year is a little bittersweet, but mostly wonderful.
My makeup and skincare routine changes with the seasons too. My skin tends to be a little more combination (dry with oily T-zone) in the summer, so I can play around with some more matte products. Now I'm gearing up to add extra hydration to my routine for the next 6+ months.
Many of these "empties" are from decluttering my makeup collection more so than finishing products. That's another effect of the seasons changing - I like to "spring clean" at any chance I get.
What products were you loving this summer? Which ones did you use til the last drop?
First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream ($46 for 8oz): I really liked this cream, which makes me sad I took so long to try it. But then I stop and think of the price and I’m like hmm do I really need to pay so much for lotion? It didn’t irritate my skin and kept it soft. I like that there’s no fragrance because I just associate fragrance with skin irritation now. It absorbed into my skin pretty quickly and didn’t leave me sticky.

Flamingo Foaming Shave Gel ($4.99): I liked this gel! I’ve been trying a bunch of new ones lately, particularly for sensitive skin. I don’t think this is made for sensitive skin but I didn’t get too much irritation from it (shaving always irritates my skin). I like that it covered my legs well, didn’t dissolve/disappear, and rinsed off the razor easily.

Australian Gold Botanical Tinted Face Sunscreen SPF 50 ($15.99 for 3oz): This is a really great daily facial sunscreen! It works well under makeup, but what really impressed me is the way it looks on its own. If I’m leaving the house without makeup, it’s so nice to be able to throw on a sunscreen and know it’s not going to make me super white like most do. This doesn’t give any sort of coverage, but the tint of color prevents that super pale look that makes me a little self-conscious with other sunscreens. I don’t know if they have multiple shades or if it would work well on darker skin tones, but this worked well for my skin tone. It has a pretty matte finish to it, but I didn’t find it drying at all. Since it’s water resistant, you’ll see the little droplets of sweat gather on your face if you sweat which is kinda weird to me but not a bad thing I guess.

Olaplex No 3 ($30 for 3.3 fl oz): It smelled good and didn’t make my hair worse, but I just didn’t see any results. Maybe you have to use it over a longer period of time? I just don’t have patience for hair products because I want something that will magically repair all my damage and make my hair smooth haha.

Cover FX Perfect Setting Powder - Travel Size, Translucent ($14): I got this because it was cheap at TJ Maxx and I like clean products for my daily routine. It didn’t blow me away but it’s a pretty good powder. I like the packaging because it keeps it from getting messy. I don’t think it’s worth the full price though because I did have some creasing under my eyes.

Kosas The Big Clean Mascara ($26 for full size): My lashes looked pretty good, but it flaked a little bit so it's not my favorite clean mascara.

Kosas Air Brow, Clear ($22 for full size): Not the best clear gel I've tried. The NYX Brow Glue holds stronger than this at a fraction of the price.

Covergirl Lash Blast Clean ($11.99): This mascara was a good, affordable, clean option but it wasn’t anything special and I prefer tubing mascaras.

Kiss My Lash But Better, No Filters ($4.99): I like this line of lashes but as I’m purging my makeup collection, I realized I never reach for these. They are very natural but these in particular don’t do too much for my eyes.

Kiss My Lash But Better, Blessed ($4.99): I liked these a little better than the No Filters ones. They’re very natural and I usually wear them when I don’t want to look like I’m wearing lashes. I wouldn’t repurchase because I have other lashes I like better, but they’re not bad!

Ardell Faux Mink 811 ($6.99): I love the Faux Mink line and these look gorgeous on some of my clients, but I didn’t love them on my own eyes. My clients don’t choose them often either since most of my clients want a natural glam, so they like the more natural wispy lashes. These can look a little more dramatic.

Eyelure Bronze Beauty ($11.99): I think these are beautiful lashes! I just trimmed too much off the side of one of them so they look weird but I’d repurchase them.
